Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala recorded 19,325 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, informed health department in a press release. With 143 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 23,439.
The district – wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-2626, Thrissur-2329, Kozhikode-2188, Thiruvananthapuram- 2050, Palakkad-1775, Malappuram-1596, Kollam-1342, Kannur-1119, Kottayam-1013, Alappuzha-933, Pathanamthitta- 831, Idukki-708, Wayanad-452 and Kasaragod-363.
A total of 1,21,070 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 8 in 2507 wards in 678 local self-governments.
5,28,083 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 5,02,189 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 25,894 people are in hospitals. 1920 people were taken to hospitals on Saturday.
Among the 1,80,842 active Covid cases reported, only 13.2 percent patients are admitted to hospitals / field hospitals.
96 of the new COVID patients were returned from outside the state. 18,114 people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 1038 patients remains unidentified. 77 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 20,388 recoveries were also reported in the state.

With this, the number of active cases touched 1,80,842 in the state. 42,83,963 were recovered from the disease so far.
