Shortage In Flue Vaccine Shipments

WESTOVER, Md. – The Somerset County Health Department will begin offering booster shots for all three COVID-19 vaccines next week.

Boosters will be available starting November 3rd to all eligible individuals. The health department will also continue offering first, second, and additional doses. Individuals receiving a booster dose will need to bring proof of vaccination.

The Pfizer and Moderna boosters must be given at least six months after the initial series and are available to individuals age 65 and older, those age 18 to 64 at high risk of severe COVID-19 illness, and those age 18 to 64 living or working in settings where COVID-19 risk is higher. The Johnson & Johnson booster must be given at least two months after the initial dose and is available to anyone age 18 and older.

The FDA has also approved “mix and match” boosters, meaning that a single dose of any of the available vaccines may be given as a booster dose, regardless of what vaccine the individual initially received.

To schedule an appointment for a booster shot or initial vaccine, call 443-523-1920 during regular business hours, or go online.
