Over the last decade, cloud-based SaaS applications have become a fundamental part of many business workflows. Applications such as Office 365 allow teams to share documents across multiple devices, easily store data in public or private clouds, and collaborate in real time in workflows. As a result, Office 365 and many other SaaS solutions are ubiquitous in the workplace, and many companies rely on these apps for their day-to-day operations.
As many organizations move data to these cloud-based applications, some teams have come to believe that old practices for data backup and cybersecurity are obsolete. SaaS apps like Office 365 are always available and have cloud storage capabilities, so it seems that data backup is no longer needed. Sadly, many have learned the difficult way that this is not true.
